With a shared understanding in place, we'll formulate a plan to address the underlying issues and create lasting change.
WHAT MAKES SCHEMA THERAPY DIFFERENT?
Meaningful change begins with understanding.
Together, we'll explore the underlying beliefs, unmet emotional needs and life experiences that continue to shape how you think, feel and relate to others.
This shared understanding becomes our roadmap for therapy, helping us focus on the changes that are most likely to lead to meaningful and lasting change.

ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF
Clinical Psychologist | PsyBa Supervisor
Advanced Certified Schema Therapist, Supervisor & Trainer
I've been working as a psychologist for more than 20 years. Over that time, I've become particularly drawn to working with people who have already tried therapy but continue to feel stuck in longstanding patterns.
I was drawn to schema therapy because it offered a fresh perspective on difficulties and gave a new way of helping people who had already tried regular talk therapy.
What I love most about schema therapy is its potential to create change at a deeper level than insight alone. Some of the techniques we use can help people change the impact that past experiences can have on their current difficulties.
This can lead to a different felt sense of themselves, rather than simply helping them think differently. Seeing those shifts is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is schema therapy right for me?
Schema therapy is often a good fit for people who feel caught in longstanding emotional or relationship patterns, particularly if previous therapy has been helpful but hasn't fully addressed the underlying issues.
If you're looking for a deeper understanding of yourself, value a strong therapeutic relationship, and are willing to invest in meaningful, longer-term change, schema therapy may be the right approach.
I've done therapy before. Can schema therapy still help?
Absolutely. Many of my clients have had therapy before and found it helpful, but feel there are still longstanding patterns they'd like to understand and change.
Schema therapy is particularly well suited to people who want to move beyond managing symptoms and work on lasting change,
Rather than simply changing thoughts, we'll work together to understand where these patterns came from and how to create lasting change.
How can I get the most from therapy?
Therapy works best as a collaborative process where you are willing to be an active participant in your therapy and work towards meaningful goals.
We'll work together to clarify what you'd like to change, so that therapy remains focused on what matters most to you.
Regular sessions provide continuity and meaningful change also comes from putting what we explore into practice between appointments.
This might mean trying something differently, stepping outside your comfort zone, or paying attention to patterns as they arise in everyday life.
How much does therapy cost?
Sessions are $275 and run for 50 minutes.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, you will be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $149.05 for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
The rebate is processed on the day of your appointment, leaving an out-of-pocket cost of $125.95.
Private health rebates may also apply (check with your fund).
What is your approach to therapy?
I take a thoughtful and curious approach to therapy.
If you've had therapy before, you may already have a range of strategies and insights.
Rather than adding more techniques, we'll work together to understand what's happening, explore the patterns underneath it, and think carefully about how to bring about change.
But insight is only the beginning! While we can't change the past, we can change the meaning those experiences hold and the influence they continue to have over your life.
Watching clients discover that they're no longer being driven by old patterns is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
I also believe therapy should feel genuinely human. While this is serious work, I value warmth, humour and connection, and I hope you'll feel both supported and appropriately challenged along the way.
"Rarely does a response makes something better. What makes something better is connection."

What if I try schema therapy
and it's not for me?
This is a very understandable concern. Fortunately, the vast majority of clients find the therapy helpful.
If for any reason you find it's not for you, we can certainly try a different approach such as ACT and CBT or I can refer you to someone else.
